Casting Call

Cast for Death of a Salesmen by Arthur Miller
Willy- Johnny Depp
I chose Johnny Depp for the role of Willy because of his previous roles he has played before. I see many of the same attributes of Willy’s character found in one of Johnny most famous characters known as Captain Jack Sparrow. Both characters live in their own little world or bubble so to speak. They are striving for a “Dream”; however, both characters fail to realize the reality of the situation.
Linda- Angelina Jolie
I chose Angelina Jolie for this role for her personality that she has and portrays in her movies. She could easily play the role of Willy’s wife. Linda is a very loyal, passionate and loving wife. She is also the backbone of the family and has held the family together through all of Willy’s delusions and dreams of the future. Sometime she her-self falls victim to Willy’s dreams; however, when the end of the day comes she is the foundation of the family and she reality. I believe that Angelina Jolie is probably one of the few women who could pull off this role the only other I could think of is Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Biff- Adam Sandler
Biff has a much laid back mentality and has failed a lot in life recently. Even though he has failed at many things; he has very serious moments in the play. For the character of Biff I have chosen Adam Sandler. Adam is a very well-known comedian but he has played serious roles in the past to perfection.
Happy- Mark Wahlberg
Happy is a character who is out to make a name for himself. He has always lived in the shadow of his older brother Biff. He is never given the true one on one attention from his father because of his older brother. His character to me seems like he is soul searching for himself.

The amazing American dream is one that always seems to be just in reach but yet so far away from our grasp. The American dream is different throughout our history and means different things for different generations and different classes even races. The American dream for people of color and minorities has always been one of true equality in society. However, true equality can never truly be achieved because there will always be minorities no matter what is done. This is the same for class structured with people within society. They maybe are able to move up and down in classes but us as a society will never have one class and be equal. Also different generations have different expectations of the American dream not because one generation is right or wrong but each grew up in different eras and have not the same values. Older generations wanted the white picket fence be married and kids and all that goes with it. Today’s society has an altered vision when it comes to the American dream. The common dream is one of making a name for yourself and establishing a career first. Then comes a relationship and maybe kids in the future. I also have a unique individual taken on the American dream. I want to remain in college and get my doctorate and become a doctor. I want to eventually find that special someone for me and get married before I am thirty years of age. Also I want to have all the kids I will have help create before the age of thirty two. I want to be able to enjoy and live life to the fullest and not stress over the little thing and relax. I want my life to feel like an amazing and exciting adventure not some long boring full of regret path.
